Weeeee're Baaaaackkk...
walked in about 20 min ago.
1st, an editorial correction to the pics that Shiner posted... the one in the water w/me & the stingrays + the pic with the locals were actually both in the Caymans, not in the Bahamas.
but short synopsis... [too late for pics tonight]
we had a WONDERFUL trip... played every night on our back porch and had a small group that would listen to us jam and really seemed to appreciate it... that was tres cool.
best private beach of any resort we've been to, hands down. snorkeled in a netted off area that had... i want to call them giant 'brain corals' but that's not right, they didn't have crenelations... think of giant mushroom cap corals, the size of half to full-size vw bugs... that was where the fish would be... we saw what had to be a two to two 1/2 foot parrot fish that we were checking out, and the other fish were so tame they would swim along with us while we checked stuff out...
and we had our own private junkanoo last night... that absolutely THRILLED me, i'd never seen a junkanoo... [i'll do a link to that in the morning... i'm too tired right now] last night, about sundown, i kept hearing a brass band warming up, and thinking [i didn't remember passing a school to get to the resort...] when i joined shiner at the main bar... sure enough, i heard them in high gear in the forefront of the resort... they played in full head-dress and gear through the open aired theater, in through the main restaurant, into the main bar, then out by the pool... just an infectious, wonderful thing to see. then they took a break out by the pool, all got drinks, then junkanoo'd in reverse... i wish we'd had cameras with us, that is one thing we didn't get pics of...
then, one of my abso wonderful memories of this trip forever.
this morning, i fulfilled a childhood dream.
i took trapeze lessons, and did two full exercises. Billy, the headmaster over the trapeze troupe, wanted me to stay and learn a new move and go again, but we had to get finished packing and ready for the airport. and yes, shiner has pics, so it DID HAPPEN!!! [happy dance... i've wanted to do that since i was four]
all in all, it was just what the doctor ordered.
Kris, if your friends were down there, we didn't see them, sorry!
Player, we've been to Nassau/Paradise island twice, and have done the atlantis tour. tres cool. the only thing is that Nassau is getting too commercialized for our taste, we love the more rustic islands/resorts... you get to socialize more with the locals, and get a true feel for the culture and the people that way.
missed y'all, will get some pics up later this weekend!!!
