So everyone and their dog are buying these, it seems. Tell us more about them. How do they compared to Fenders? What are the weak areas (if any)?

Are you going to do any upgrades, if so what?

Just curious, that's all. :pancake:

Which CV 50's? The Strat or Tele?

From what I've heard neither require any upgrading and are very high quality. We'll see I guess.;)

...here's a couple more...

Edited to say: The flash pictures really don't do the guitar justice because you can't really see the transparent finish on the body. I wish I could snap some photos in natural light but anyway...

My impressions are very positive. It is a work of art guys. About the best build quality I've seen on a new guitar or any guitar for that matter. I cannot believe this is a Squier made in China, or should I say "Crafted in China" as it says on the back of the headstock. The neck, frets, body and finish are all flawless. The nut is even cut right (ok it's plastic but WhoTF cares). Fret edges are nicely shaped and filed back with no hint of any sharp edges whatsoever. I love the 3 saddle vintage type bridge and those tuners are the same that Fender uses on their MIM 50s Classics. The body grain comes through nicely with the translucent finish and color. And what can you say about that tint on the neck.

Guitar came with a set of nines strung up but they feel light to me so after I wear these out I'll put on a new set of tens. The Alnico III pickups are pretty good. I'm used to the output of Vs but they certainly sound very Tele like. Playability is ridiculously pleasant. It just feels right. Even off the wall at the shop it played like a dream. I'm really not going to change anything on it at all.

SUH-WEET!! :AOK: :dude: Is the body ash, alder or something else?

Clips next, right??

The body is Pine. A Pinecaster. Very cool. Is similar in weight to Alder but not as heavy as Ash. It has a nice warm comfortable feel with just the right amount of comfortable "heft". Tone with pine is smiley face good. I'll try to record something this weekend. Possibly tomorrow.

Nicey-nice! How does it compare to your Fender Muddy Waters Tele?

The Muddy has Alnico V pickups so they're more output than the Alnico IIIs to my ear. The Muddy Tele is heavy. As heavy as a Les Paul because of the Ash body. The Muddy has a rosewood 60s neck so that's certainly different. Quality is as good as American Standard Fenders.

you guys are killing me!!!! ....must resist!!

Congrars Tone, that's one gorgeous Tele :master:

+1 on everything T2TB said. It's a brilliant guitar. As I've said elsewhere, I was all set to get a Fender 50s Classic when the CV Tele came out. I can't tell that I've made any compromises at all in going with the Squier instead.

The one problem I had with mine was a loose jack, but then the usual Tele the cup-plus-retaining-clip arrangement has always seemed like a bad design to me. I stuck in an electrosocket: problem solved.

Have any of you guys played any strats or teles that had chambered bodies and what did you think of them,I'm not trying to rob the post but since a group of tele, strat lovers are talkin I'd thought I'd ask.Sumi:D

Here is how they compare to fenders. Take a look for yourself. I measured every inch of both and they are identical in all dimensions. One is a CV 50s Strat and the other is a 50th Ann. Deluxe MIA. I saw one of the CV 50s Strats in a store in Hamilton, Ont. today for 299. I was looking for the Tele. If they had one it would have been home with me.
They are absolutley the best thing from Fender in a looonnnng time. For 299 they are a must have for everyone. I mean it.

I really like the vintage tint and the neck on the CV 50.
The pickups are great. The only thing I would change is the trem block and GFS is making one for them that is under 20 bucks. The pickups are a special Alnico 3 set and they sound really good.

Very nice tele

Every time I read about the CV 50's tele it gets high praise....making it hard to resist...:poke:

Time to hear some clips from those of you who have one already

+ 2

This guitar is wonderful. The Jack cup sucks and the pick guard is cheap looking....thats it, the rest is A++++.

GG don't be dismayed

That blonde Squire Tele Custom II with the P90s has incredible tone and is an incredible guitar. These are just different.

I'd like to see some pictures of the strats. A lot of people are getting them. It'll be interesting to hear what they sound like compared to the Deluxe and the Cherry Sunburst standard with the staggered pickups.

Looking forward to some strat pics.

Duffy

Oh yeah.

Guitar Gal,

I'm sure I've seen that avatar somewhere before. It was animated. Can't remember where I saw it. Where did you find that?

It is really cool looking, I might add. But I'm positive I've seen it somewhere before. On some valvetronix "chromie" site I think, back when I wanted a AD60VTX.

Now I'm looking forward to the Black Diamond VOX that is supposed to address some of the inherent design concerns expressed by some experts regarding the AD....VTX's and AD....VT's.

Someone had an avatar just like that but it was animated. Do you remember?

Sorry Duff.....can't remember where I got the avatar, but it did come off another guitar discussion board and yes, it was animated so it looks like the cat is actually playing the guitar and tapping his paw to keep the beat :AOK:

I don't remember where I picked it up, but here it is. If you want it, just save it. After viewing it again, I see that it is tagged with http://funnytreat.com and sure enough it is on that site in the Funny Pictures section :thwap: But, I've never visited that site, so I must have gotten it from a guitar site.

Sticking to the subject matter here are 2 clips of the Squier Classic Vibe 50s Tele. First lick is on the bridge pickup and the second lick which is the same lick as the first is both bridge and neck pickup in the middle switch position. Yeah I botched that last ending. :AOK:

The second clip is on the neck pickup. Same lick.

Sounds great! I think I see a Bad Monkey on top of the amp?

Yeah it's a bad Monkey and it's sitting on top of the woodstove behind the amp. As is the Ross Compressor which you can't see and the Marshall's channel switch footpedal and the Digiverb. These aren't connected to anything they're just sitting on the stove.

Sweet sounds, Tone! I especially liked the neck p'up tone there. :AOK:

Enjoyed watching you play in the reflection off the Jube's chrome faceplate, too!

Ya know what you need now? A really slick distortion pedal to dish out some serious filth to complement those sparkling cleans.... ;) :D

Well in about 3 days or so I should have a really slick distortion pedal in hand! Any amount of gain on the Tele with those Alnico IIIs sound really cool. A much different sound than the other Tele I had.
