I used to have that LP! Sadly, it was stolen with many others a few years ago. Beautiful sounding album.

Ah, what a shame. I too once had a large portion of my music collection stolen and there are times it still hurts to think about things I no longer have.

I've also been listening to *****es Brew lately. Amazing musicians.

Without a doubt. One of the myriad things at which Miles excelled was assembling a group of musicians for a specific project and then getting the most out of each one of them. In many ways, Miles played both the trumpet and the rest of the band as his instruments.

Hehe. Thanks. Now if he could just have three more games just like that.

Three more games like that and he's a first ballot hall of famer. :)

R_of_G, your Miles albums have me digging back into some classics I haven't listened to in a while...

My jazz loving/singing Dad played some great stuff while we were growing up, which was a great exposure. He saw Miles play several times way back in the early days as well as the 70's electric phase.

T-Rex Electric warrior... some minutes before that i was on the White Stripes hour.

For some time now, this guys are constantly on my Fake-pod (Creative Zen player):
Elvis
Oasis
Bob Dylan
The White Stripes

A couple of excellent choices there Tig, particularly Sketches of Spain, one of the most beautiful albums ever recorded of any kind of music. :applause

I am still in a very Miles-heavy rotation myself (which happens when I play a lot).

Radiohead

Radiohead
"OK Computer"

It's been over 12 years since I've sat down and listened to the whole album. Such a haunting, yet compellingly different sound they made. I'm not a fan of the recent stuff, but this is one of those exceptional albums.

I have the newer "Deluxe" version that has several unreleased tracks and mixes, but I find the original tracks plenty satisfying.

+1. Took me a little while to really appreciate it, but now it's one of my favorite albums.

OK Computer is one of the finest albums of all time. Personally, I think their recent material is a direct extension of the work they were doing during the OK Computer period. They're still one of the few bands I find that can put together an album that works as a whole rather than just a collection of songs they happened to record around the same time. They also happen to be a superb live band, which is quite an accomplishment to be able to replicate their sound live.

Lamb of God's "Ashes of the Wake"

Ashes of the Wake is my favorite LoG album. Another must have for fans would be the live "Killadelphia" album, which has several songs from AotW that sound really good.

LoG and Mastodon are easily my favorite modern metal bands.
