Why don't we start a Sunburst Guitar thread? They clearly aren't just a red guitar.

Works for me. I initially disincluded my bursts based on just that thinking.

Plus, in such a thread we could get all the other types of bursts.

Hey now, I like the Sunburst thread, nice guitars in their own right, but don't be dissing the red guitars as "just" red guitars now!!! ;)

Haha, I don't think he said "just" in the sense of attempting to minimize red guitars, but rather meant "solely."

Nice... I love the Hawks. Why did you give it up? (Why didn't I buy it!?)

Same here...but when the word 'Cherry' precedes 'Sunburst', it's tuff to draw a line...OTH, red is red...unless it's pink, right? :poke: :)

Guess I'll have to go to the Sunburst thread, now...without the Cherryburst...

Well, it was a while back...I found it, and gave up an almost new Washburn WI66PROG to my good friend & recent fellow fretter '60's Guy' to get it. Then I happened on that G&L Comanche you bought from me, and gave up this BluesHawk to get that...so, in a roundabout way, you did buy it...:whatever: ;)

No one needs to move their cherrybursts from here. There can be some overlap, plus they are beauts! I have some severe lust for that tele! Thanks for contributing gents!

Hmmm... and yet feels somewhat empty, (as there's no BluesHawk in my line-up.)
I've noticed that Blues players either love em or hate em... no middle ground with those. Seems most who hate them are trying to push them through the wrong amp.

The right amp is sure a key, rocket. I got my Tech21 just before I let it go, and I was loving it. The Hawk is (was, since they disco'd it) an odd duck Gibby. Dummy coil under the Blues90's to 'tap' them via push-pull pots, 3-way strat-type switch & the Varitone...18 pup possible positions. Ya think you could live with the Fender-scale (25.5) neck?

I'd seen/played one other that came thru my dealer b4 this one, and missed that one. It was in blue, with a bigsby, and instead of the 90's, had the 'mini' buckers. If another ever lands here, I'd be suffering major GAS...

Nope... not for electric, (and that must be the reason I don't & haven't owned one.)
I can barely tolerate 25.5" on acoustics... tune down 1/2 & capo to pitch.

Another red beauty:

Gutman-- give us some deets on that guitar. Model/brand? Country of origin? Price?

I like what they did with the upper edge of the pickguard.

Right:beer:
That's a Fret-King Corona 60 SP by Trevor Wilkinson (you might have heard about the wilkinson tremolo). Trev is running a custom shop in England but I think there's another series made in czech republik (not sure bout that) - he also worked with Patrick Eggle afaik.

The hardware on this guitar is great - the tuners are staggered locking tuners that work perfectly with the vintage style tremolo. The other specs are very close to a '65 Stratocaster Trev took as a model.

I was lucky to get this guitar used but in mint condition and I payed about 900 Dollars. I'm not sure about the original retail price and I'm not sure, when this guitar was built..

Thanks for the info. I've seen Fret-Kings online, and knew about the Wilkinson connexion, they have some cool designs.

One never sees them here in the States though.

Since Strummy showed his ex-Epi G400...here's one I often wish I didn't give up...a '99 Gibson BluesHawk...when I got her, the Blues-90 pup covers and knobs were black...I changed them to creme with gold...never could find a Varitone position marker ring...

You usually don't see too many of them running around.........

This isn't really MY guitar, but I play it at my shows (for Drop D stuff.)

But it's my dad's schecter C1-+

sorry, not a very good picture.

I don't have a red one either. Everything I seem to like is either not offered in red or is too expensive.

I like wine red and darker reds.

Nice guitars everyone. I especially like that Gibson Blueshawk.

I have that same guitar! it rules doesnt it?

I'm not really sure which one you mean. Both have Seymour Duncan 59's in them, I've leveled the frets, dressed them and polished them, and I have them loaded with Heavy/Lite (10-52) strings. Because of the strings and pickups they sound very similar....the difference being in the necks and fret number.

Short answer....yes, they rawk! Thanks!
