I like the vintage, so I voted for that one. But, the bigger 70's era looks "right" on a 3 bolt 70's natural Strat with a black pickguard to me. I think the bigger headstock looks awesome on a reverse headstock neck.
I distinctly remember when CBS took over Fender. I will forever associate the large headstock with that event and the poor quality that plaqued Fender during CBS's reign. While I know that not all Fenders were bad during that period, it's an accepted fact that overall quality suffered badly then.
seems to me that the large cbs one looks better when its on a maple fingerboard guitar.. dont know why... probably Hendrix comes to my mind when I see this configuration..so it looks alright! On a rosewood fretb. , I would surely choose the small classic one.
