That is what this new SG looks like to me, what do you guys think?

The neck is the really amazing part. A guy I used to know who built lutes used to talk about wanting to do something just like this.

Hmm It kinda looks like one of those huge lollipops except guitar shaped.

mmmm lollipops...

Makes that Clapton Cream-era SG painted for him by The Fool look like a model of restraint and subtlety by comparison....

I like the black and white one better. The other one kind of looks like someone threw up a bag of Skittles at the top of a hill.

I like SG's in a more traditional red or black. That one could be played by Willy Wonka! :D

However, the recent SG that caught my eye last year is the Epiphone Prophecy.

I kind of like the new designs and probably would for a little while. Then the novelty would most likely wear off. The one thing that I don't like right off the bat is that there are no fretboard position markers.

Yeah, Clown poop ones :D.

I could see a dude in a reggae band groovin on one. The guy playing guitar for the Wailers last time I saw them was on a SG. But no fretboard markers would be a drag.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but do you guys really depend that much on inlays on the front of the fretboard? The dots on the side of the fretboard are important to me, but I don't really notice the markers on the front. I've always kind of thought they were there for the benefit of guitarists in my audience.

My Fender only had some decorative inlays on the 11th-13th frets. It did have position markers on the side of the neck, which I assume these Gibsons also have. I didn't have a problem with it. It took a little adjusting to get used to the sharkie inlays on my Jackson, but after a couple of days, I was good to go.

I like the maple fretboard SGs, although in a perfect world I'd wish for a matching color (to the body) headstock. Of course then Gibby fans would really go screaming into the night. Also I don't believe that pickup covers should exist. At least now there are pickups wound specifically to counteract the tonal effects of covers.
