hmmm buzzing?

well when ever i let go of the strings or bridge of my guitar it buzz's really really bad. Im thinking somethings not grounded or something? any other reason it would do this?

On Les Paul type guitars the bridge ground is usually run through the bridge bushing hole, if youve messed around with your bridge lately then thats probably it. I dont think anybody actually solders these together its usually just a friction fit coupled with a somewhat fine wire for the ground.

Especially since I'm going to rewire my LP copy and change the pots (maybe with a DVM Full Boat mod) so it would be very useful for me.
It's doing exactly the same thing Squireman131 mentioned, but I'm not sure if it's because it's got those cheap mini-pots in it.

I have the same issue on my 2008 Gibson Studio. I asked my tech about it and he said most of them are like that. It hums like crazy when you aren't touching the strings. I was upset at first because I only get that with my cheaper older Squier guitars. I don't even notice it any more. If there is a fix I would be interested as well.

I dont think GuitarNutz is gonna be much help, thats mostly for Strats and Teles...and thats 60 cycle hum, not ground noise.

I found a couple of things that might help or at the least explain how it should be.

But in my opinion, you really need to just pull out your bridge bushing, the one closest to your controls/electronics...find your ground wire and do what ever it takes to improve your ground(contact) to that bushing....that IS your culpret.

Brian, do you have an ohmmeter ? if so you want to look for continuity between between your bridge and jack plate, if that is good , you are grounded..( you may also check by inserting a cord in the guitar and checking the ground on the other end to the bridge ..should have the same reading )
