Just to take the thread off course a tad, is that instrument his design? I noticed a number of them in the background and some appear to be different designs.

Nope, not unless he is really really old and you were 10 a very very long time ago. I wonder why all of the harp guitar in the backgraound? Maybe a harp guitar convention?
