The one labelled 68 and 60th, are my Fender 68 Reissue Crafted in Japan, that is Vintage white. It is a 1998 model with the large headstock and 7.5 radius.
The other one is my 60th Anniversary Fender made in Mexico strat. It is Blizzard pearl, with a very flamey neck. I have have a close up picture of it.
I have since returned a 1980 American strat that I had hoped to buy from a friend but he decided not to sell it. So with the new Deluxes I have 8. I also have a Squier Cherryburst, Squier QMT, 50th Ann., and Deluxe Player.
No more Strats in my future and just one more Les Paul.

I really like the Vintage white. A lot of people don't like it because they say it looks too yellow. The pearl finishes that Fender is using latelyare very nice.
The blizzard pearl is really sweet. The White Pearl Metalic on the Squier Deluxes reminds me of the pearl color on Caddilacs.
It just shows you that if you choose colors and are not swayed by that MIA hype you can get a pretty nice collection. My four Squiers total less than 1000 dollars.

ok, we need a smiley bigger than this :D , b/c my face is about to split...

i feel like a kid who just got the tour of Willie Wonka's, or something.

unless a girl comes to completely blow away what i played today, i know exactly what i'm going to get, but haven't found her yet.

:rotflmao: and on an amusing side note, instead of coming home with a guitar, i came home with a new pair of shoes... strictly because my trusty treadmill sneakers are falling apart...

the store i went to is shipping in some of my list from another municipality for me to test drive tues night. ;)

standard white leather reeboks. :D

and just because i can't stand to torture you, strummy,

i'm getting a tele.

the current list of potentials, warren:

1) highway one series tele
2) classic series classic player baja tele
3) deluxe series nashville tele
4) classic series 72 tele deluxe
5) classic series 72 tele custom
6) special edition koa tele

the one that turned my head today was kept in a wood/glass case, away from the other girls. i had been playing a couple of strats, when the woman who was helping me brought her to me when i asked to play a tele. i know this has to be wrong, but i swear she told me it was an original '78 custom... natural finish... battle scars... she had a history... she had a curved fretboard, and when i plugged her into the 3' Roland they had there, and i plunked away on some '****** tonk' on the upper frets, i was sold. i liked the sound. :D

They have a Deluxe Nashville Telecaster where I take lessons and I've played it on a few occasions.

It's the prettiest, great sounding, butt ugly guitar out there and I can tell you I hear it calling me every time a walk into the store. I think any of the above will make a nice addition, now is Shiner fixin on adding to his electric collection (you know he will be trying to take your Tele every time you turn around).:poke:

this is the one they have at the store - same color

I've been workin' on a little something of my own Strum. But I ain't sayin' nothing till it gets here. I don't want to jinx it.

Nice little list, there, CB....not surprised that playing a 'vintage' Tele Custom gave you a thrill  The combo of the classic Tele bridge twanger and humbucker neck pickup....mmmm. Had a 72 myself in the 70's...natural finish, black pg & knobs, maple board...was my go-to git then...(ps: Strum's heard her at play)...let her go in 81 with lots of memories...wished I had her back...:whatever:

So...another candidate to test comes Tuesdy, huh?

That's the same dare someone gave me about guitars and I... Oh wait, bad example.:D

Yep, that analogy/metaphor was in mind as I posted. :D

CB, as long as you are trying or have tried some strats along with the teles, all is good with me. It is just choosing you starting point anyway!

+1 : CB, you did your homework, asked questions, took them out for a test drive, so you put in the work to make the best decision to satisfy #1 - you.

Remember when you only had one acoustic, well guess what, this won't be your last electric either;)

i actually misspoke a couple of pages back. the koa is coming in from killeen, along with two not on my list she thought i would like to try, an american standard in candy cola and a '69 tele thinline. i will be traveling to two big texas cities in the near future, and will test drive some that i haven't played yet then. :D i really want to research this and find the perfect girl for me.

Pics or it didn't happen. We HAVE to see these.:munch:

CB,
I just back from spending the weekend with Kodiak, we went to three different guitar stores in Louisville and checked out several different guitars. I tried tele's with Rosewood & Maple necks , I really thought that one was going to talk to me but it just didn't happen. I tried two hollow bodies and didn't find anything that was different that what I can get out the Strat that was at home. So now I 'm just going to take my time and hopefully find another guitar sometime this year that will give me a bad case of GAS. I will say this that Kodiak's new Idol sound better than anything I picked up this weekend. Good luck with finding the perfect fit.
