since ry cooder did all the slide parts for that movie i wonder if he was really using a tele or not....for someone who had never played guitar (ralph macchio) i think ralph did a pretty good job of faking the guitar stuff he was supposed to be playing.

i know all has been quiet on the southern front... ;)

my saleslady had been out a bit; turns out she was actually shipping in guitars from more than just killeen. she emailed me today, and tomorrow, after i go work a half-day, i'm headed to the music store to try my bevvy of beauties. i'm hoping [really really] to come home with her tomorrow. :D  :pancake:

y'all cross your fingers for me, i really want it to happen tomorrow. i'm GAS'ing hard. :rotflmao:

The hell with the workaholic stuff, get down there when they open!!!

Good Luck CB!!!:bravo:

i'm kinda saying unladylike things under my breath... turned out when i went to my guitar lesson, and i had 'silver wings' ALL WORKED OUT in e, turns out the 12 year old who's singing that song has to sing it in a, so i had to relearn the entire song, runs, chords and all. i know i need to be versatile and all, but dangit, i worked so hard! [sigh]

[kimmie, just be proud that you are learning it in two keys, don't be a weenie... you dislike people without backbone... she's 12, and you love kids.]

ok, i'm back in my Happy Place. now back to hoping that tomorrow is the day i score my new baby! :D :D :D

and i can't help being a workaholic, i love what i do, and i have too many fires to put out in the morning not to go in. but the guitars will be there after lunch. ;)

[morning after edit: it is extremely humbling that some of my band mates are a third of my age and three times the talent. i will learn that song in each and every key that girl wants to sing it in, and am Exceptionally Proud to be her band mate.]

Tote your MicroCube with you, CB, check 'em all out, and here's hoping you find 'the one' that grabs you and tkaes you home ;)

Submitting to GAS can be very painful indeed..

CB,

What you get depends on your budget, but I would consider that your sound will be much more impacted by your amp choice than guitar - so pick yourself a sweet little amp (my ADv30VT does a good job and I got it on the cheap used) and maybe a MIM strat to give you lots of options. Play a ton of them and have fun!:AOK:

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! :D   :pancake: :D

[giggle... been jumping up and down now for ten minutes... even bouncing in the car on the way home...]

i am the proud owner of an American Standard Telecaster, candy cola.

slight problem showing pics yet, b/c i only have the case and the receipt. i have to pick her up in bryan on the way to see the byproxy this weekend. she couldn't sell me the one that i played. they are getting her all sparkly and restrung for me as we speak!

congrats....i'm sure you will love it...i can't find a picture of candy cola anywhere...can you describe the color?

Here's a nice guiltless way for you to justify your new purchase, CB...

Just consider it as an indulgence, as in the meaning, remission of punishment still due for a sin committed but forgiven.

So, you are hereby forgiven for lusting after this new guitar. This is actually a pretty good deal 'cause you're now free to lust after something else...at your own discression, of course. :D

warren the color is a dark candy red/brownish color?? for sure but prettier! You can find pics at fender or online stores.(Sweetwater,M.F.,music 123)

C.B rosewood or maple?!
Warren here is a pic:

it's weird...i went to several vendor websites and everywhere it said candy cola there was no pic and when i went to the fender website and clicked on colors they didn't list candy cola either....i can't wait to see pics of your candy cola tele cb!!

[ROoooowr...] :D :D :D

we're in houston. made it to bryan about an hour and a half before the shop closed; and i had not seen the guitar in her color, the one i played was kinda cruddy plum-ish color.

he brought her out, and i was thinkin'... 'daaaang... i've found a corvette...'

we got to houston, the byproxy took us to fogo de chao... [i think i just gained five pounds]

then the guys went to get coffee beans in the morning for the french press, and i couldn't stand it. i just had to stay and play her.

[her virgin song was 'wildwood flower']

and i don't feel guilty about buying her at all. the money i bought her with came from some people settling up with me on money i never thought i'd get back... money i'd already spent... and quite frankly, i got her cheaper than any price i've seen for her on the internet, case and all. ;)

muddy, her fretboard looks exactly like the one in your picture, but i haven't bothered going farther than that yet...

strum... marathon battery. you have to come here. and i'm about to let shiner tell you why... turns out it's the darned coolest Good Friday i can remember... i gotta let him have his turn!

thank you for all your patience and support!

Excellent, CB :AOK: :) Congrats :bravo:

I couldn't wait for you to post your pics of your new baby, CB, so I went to Fender.com, Products, Telecaster, American Standard Telecaster, and there's pics available of it in Candy Cola with Rosewood or Maple fretboards.

I'd much rather see a pic of you holding yours beaming with pride, though...;)

mud, if you're talking about the fretboard, shiner has confirmed rosewood.

all y'all, i promise we'll both have lots of pics when we get back!

we have the spinal tap house now, officially!!!

[it goes to eleven]:D :D :D   :pancake: :D

Hmmm, I'm wondering if this quote from CB in reference to her new guitar should go in my sig? What do y'all think?

"She's so pretty . . . and she fits around my ****s."

two things....(1) yes it works for a sig (2) but is useless without pics

sounds like it has been a great guitar week at the shiner household!! :AOK:

[groan] i can't make him delete it now, Warren... you memorialized it. [sigh]

this goes back to a thread at the 'other place' ...

i have a habit of sitting on the side of the bed, my right leg tucked under me, which hikes the guitar up... which causes issues.

the byproxy is like me, a minimalist. i was playing my tele cross legged on the floor... it felt right. [and i think her name is Odyssey...]

we're having fun. i love my byproxy [and my husband, and my new guitar] to death. :D :D :D
