Here's mine. It's actually an Epi, but it plays very well. I prefer it to my Gibson LP. IIRC the model is an SG-400 Custom. I Googled it one day and up popped a photo of Hendrix playing one, so I feel all the more happy about owning it. Picked it up via Yahoo auctions in near-brand-new condition for just under $200.

There's no reason to feel even slightly unhappy or doubtful about it if it delivers the goods when you play it. Nice looking SG.

Sg

It's an Epiphone SG. It is a "Sound of Rock" special custom shop edition with the Gibson SG standard type of full pickguard under the pups.

It is an awesome guitar and sounds really great. I love it.

I compared this Epiphone SG, see truss rod cover label, to at least five other Epi SG copies at GC including that really cool light blue metallic one, and a couple G-400's. I really "wanted" one of them, but the tone of this "SOR" 1966 Gibson SG standard copy was so far superior to the tone of the other five I couldn't believe it. It was a way superior guitar in my limitted opinion I couldn't believe it. Even exact same SG copies sounded different from each other but all sounded thin compared to this excellent SG copy. The tone was so full and louder than the others and it said Custom Shop in the insignia at the back of the headstock, supposedly means nothing, but going by this guitar it clearly stood out from the crowd; maybe for other reasons. Plus I love the full pickguard but would not hesitate to get a black one with a teardrop pickguard.

Right now I want a black EB-3 Epiphone SG copy bass.
