That looks good.

I like the smaller guard on an SG.

Thanks Brian. I like the smaller pg too. It wasn't a concern when I purchased it, but to me it gives the guitar a better appearance - personal preference.

I noted in another thread that a friend had a Gibson like this when we were probably about 10 years old and every time he opened the case, I was filled with envy. Now when I open the case I flash back to those days. I don't play it much, but it's special.

Hmm, maybe I'll play it today:)

By the way my sons name is Scott Gardner (LOL) & to think he wanted a SG

I've got it bad bro (I think you can relate) I've told myself a dozen times I was done buying but I just can't stop. I suppose it's better than crack or gambling. . . .

Haha, I was pretty good this year. I bought a couple cheapies for about $100 each, but also sold a guitar for $300, so I'm actually ahead this year.

;)

I honestly think I'm pretty close to stasis and will probably only buy stuff when I stumble on really great deals (which is how I got those 2 cheapies this year, one in a pawn, one new on closeout). I'm definitely not looking for anything specifically or gassing for any particular guitar.

I don't have an SG but was eyeing these on MF - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Faded-SG-Special-Electric-Guitar?sku=517222
either that ar an Agile Valkyrie III.

Any opinions? Does anyone know how those Gibsons are?

From what I've heard, you may wanna see if you can play one of the Fadeds, some people really don't like the finish while others it doesn't bother. I've seen some people buff up their Fadeds with carnauba wax and other stuff, and I did like the glossier look better.

No direct experience, so fwiw, ymmv.

Great price though. I have the same neck pickup in my Studio LP DC and like it just fine.

MIne is a 1968 SG special. It has the p90s and the vibrolo tail piece. It is the exact same guitat that Pete Townsend made famous. I have owned it since 1969. It was used by a band for the first year and I have never touched the guitar, and kept it completely stock except for string changes.

Please tell me I misread that and that you play that guitar.

It's too beautiful to not be "touched!" :(

Yes I meant modified. I have played the **** out of it. Back about the mid 80s I was going to put a set of Hummbuckers in it and the tech talked me out of it. It has one of those baseball bat necks and has the lowest action of any guitar I hve ever seen. Those original p90s sure sound good.
While I was in the shop I asked him if he had a case for it, and he said all he had was this old plastic Gibson case. I got it for 40 bucks. It was one of the original protector cases.
