I don't like this one as much as From Mars to Sirius, but I'm hoping it will grow on me after repeated listenings.

the talk in the other thread of the 40th anniversary of the abbey road cover shot made me decide to put this on...

i cannot recommend any album more than this one for anyone who likes the beatles and the mg's as i do. i am not a big fan of the vast majority of beatles' covers, because they typically amount to someone else trying to ape the "beatlesque" sound, but this is not that at all. this is the pure mg's memphis sound covering the vast majority of the abbey road material.

Last day's of humanity's song "blood splattered chainsaw massacre", and job for a cowboy's "entombment of a machine", both at the same time.

in honor of the late rashied ali whose death today has been overshadowed by the passing of les paul.

today took two music legends.

very few drummers could handle the duties ali took on.

the man played with trane, ayler, sanders, schepp, zorn and ulmer among others. he was in a class all his own.

rip rashied ali.

Today's a pop-rock/power-pop day:

Richard X Heyman
Marshall Crenshaw
Velvet Crush
Matthew Sweet

All superb artists. If you're a power-pop-rock fan, Highly Recommended!

today is john zorn's birthday!!!!

i have enough of his stuff to listen to nothing but and celebrate for about a week, but for now i am going through some of my absolute favorites.

this one was recorded live 6 years ago on his 50th birthday by one of the most amazing of all the zorn bands

Computer is set on random play.

"White Room" by Cream just played, but most of the stuff on my machine is either power pop, punk, or old school ska (Desmond Dekker. etc.).

Kudos to you for reaching The Dark Tower at last, a good journey, no?!

I've been listening to Donny Hathaway singing Jealous Guy again, it's not getting old no matter how much I play it

Today has been John Hiatt day - all day long! Seven CD's and a 2 CD Anthology. One of the most underappreciated singer/songwriters ever, but, thank goodness, a huge cult following, and many other artists have covered his stuff.

Tomorrow, I get the Delbert McClinton treatment. Looking forward to that!
