Bless you sir.

But I prefer secrecy and deception.

Thank you for the blessing father Krashpad.
Alas, the methods of secrecy and deception were not to be disclosed unto the general population lest they go wildly astray. May you now carry the burden with great strength.

D'oh! :thwap:

I'm always doing sh*t like that.

As you know, once you get over a certain amount, they all blend together in the wifely mind.

The tricks: keep 'em cased, spread 'em out (I keep about half at the office), and do not have new ones delivered to the house.

:dude:

[?!] more guitars just means more toys he has to share with me, and vice versa... ;)

[giggle] that actually wasn't very polite, and i apologize. my ex had an extremely expensive hobby that i had no interest in whatsoever and was very hostile towards and i empathize deeply to all on the forum who face any opposition to guitar acquisition syndrome. i personally just think of it as Christmas all year long. :D

No offense taken whatsoever. It's wonderfull you can share that.

Mrs. Krashpad is actually very tolerant of me, especially for a non-player.

Of course, at this point, she only knows I have "over a dozen" guitars.

;)

Haha, Spud's got over twice mine!

Composites are the way to go for portraiture of large groups, though Spud's lawn shot from the roof is a classic.

Counting guitars and basses and subtracting the banjo, mando, and uke, I get 22.

Krash! Me like your collection, and A+ for presentation. :AOK:
Put me down for a whopping THREE at the moment.

I'm up to six. I've decided that I really don't need that many. Gonna trim it down to one electric, one 6 string acoustic, and one 12 string acoustic. Maybe then I can focus more on practice. :thwap:
Dave

17. Pretty evely distributed between acoustics and electrics. Plus a mando and a uke. Links to pics in my sig.

As for s'plainin' them to Lucy, Fred: " 'tis better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.' ;)

Two electrics minimum. Because if you get in a band or otherwise find yourself in a performing sitch, you need a backup.

:AOK:

I've got eight right now, and two in the project stage...which is another story. I was off all last week for a holiday "vacation", during which I planned to be spray painting. However, the weather here did not cooperate, with higher than normal temperatures along with higher than usual humidity. The humidity is a lacquer killer....

Thanks Spud and Brian for running interference for the rest of us here! :AOK:

It's always helpful to have a couple of "extreme" examples to use as bargaining points in an arguement. Makes 10 or 15 guitars seem reasonable....;)

In our house, there's one of us (me) who's a hobby person, and one of us (Mrs. Bloozcat) who's not - unless you consider work a "hobby", I don't. So two of anything that both do the same job seems inexplicable to the non-hobby type. But, I continue to get what I want in my two expensive hobbies, and just benignly ignore my wife's rhetorical questions. :)

Had to edit that...I actually have eight with two in progress. I must have thought I was telling my wife how many guitars I have...

I saved Spud's family pic to show my wife whenever GAS strikes me again. I'll say "See! I'm not that bad!"

:D

But you need more than one pic or she'll just claim that those belonged to one guy from the looney bin. To show that lots of guitars are normal, you need to show that all the kids are doing it!

I've got two & I got both of those at the same time. My wife still doesn't understand why I need two.

The other day she said "I think you don't need to get any more of those little boxes" meaning pedals. I should show her some of your little box boards!!

The thing is, right now I agree with her. I don't need any more little boxes.

O, but this year I will get a third guitar.

I read a quotation somewhere once that nobody is without worth--they can always serve as a bad example!

Quite the contrary, Spuds--you're an inspiration to Fretters everywhere and an excellent shield for the deflection of spousal anger and indignation over our GAS outbreaks! I'm having your famous "roof shot" framed!! :dude:

So that must be bad - like Michael Jackson bad? Ya, that's the ticket. Who's bad? he he c'mon girl. he he (spin)

...and yes, being delusional has it's merits.

I have more than I need.. 6 total..

Jimmie Vaughan Strat.. used daily
OLP JP.. Wall Hanger now
Squier 51.. Wall Hanger now
ST Scorpion.. Wall Hanger now.. in parts..

Dread Acoustic..Played now and then..
SX 57 Bass.. Used now and then..

Time to learn to play better.. not buy more..:)

Ah, but the two are not mutually exclusive! In fact, I'd posit that having more is more conducive to wanting to learn more, because when you get in a rut you can go to another axe for inspiration.

See, I have this all figured out. :AOK:

Wow... never thought of that!!!

Can't imagine how much SPUDS must know and how much learning he has gone thru.... :master:

Well, keep in mind that it's probably not true and that I probably just use that thinking to excuse having way more guitars than I need. :D

Of course, it was never really about what we "need," was it? :AOK:

My wife's favorite quote is "Why do you need another guitar? You can only play one at a time."

I explained it to her a few different ways but thanks to you, Spud, I have a new weapon in my debating arsenal. :D

Extremely nice family, BTW.
